The East Orange area is gaining another new neighbor, so to speak, this summer with its very own Kiwanis club. Aimed at helping local children, Kiwanis clubs continually raise more than $100 million every year and sponsor nearly 150,000 service projects throughout 96 countries to help their local community. Girl Scouts of Citrus Council, Inc., which serves girls throughout Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia Counties, celebrated the accomplishments of 56 girls who’ve earned their Girl Scout Gold Award at the 2009 In Her Honor ceremony. Every year more than 500,000 people in the United States are treated in emergency departments due to bicycle-related injuries.
